Our Story
A Different Kind of Currency Education
Anurak was founded on a simple conviction: that adults navigating the financial uncertainties of midlife and beyond deserve honest, measured education — not false confidence or oversimplified answers.
← Back to HomeOur Background
Founded in Bangkok, Shaped by the Andaman
Anurak grew out of a series of informal workshops held in Bangkok in the mid-2010s, where a small group of educators and financial practitioners found themselves answering the same questions again and again: How does the Baht's movement affect my pension from abroad? Why did my import costs jump last quarter? What does it actually mean when the dollar strengthens?
Those questions deserved thoughtful, accessible answers — not sales pitches, not speculative claims, and not the kind of dense technical language that excludes anyone without an economics degree. So we built a curriculum that starts from real-life situations, works through the underlying mechanics carefully, and leaves participants better equipped to observe, ask, and decide.
Today, Anurak operates from Ratchathewi in central Bangkok, serving adults over 40 who have a genuine stake in understanding how foreign exchange affects their financial lives in Thailand. Our courses are taught in small groups, in English, with a consistent emphasis on nuance over certainty.
"Currency markets are complex ecosystems — best understood slowly and carefully, not in a weekend seminar."
— Core principle, Anurak curriculum

Our Standards
How We Approach Course Quality
Editorial Independence
Anurak does not receive commissions from financial institutions or product providers. Course content is shaped solely by educational merit.
Regular Curriculum Review
Exchange rate dynamics and Thai banking regulations evolve. Course materials are reviewed and updated at least twice a year to reflect current conditions.
Participant Feedback Process
Every cohort completes a structured feedback review. We use this to improve session pacing, clarity of materials, and the usefulness of advisory sessions.
Data Privacy & Discretion
Participant information is handled strictly. We do not share enrollment data with third parties and treat personal financial situations discussed in sessions as fully confidential.
Qualified Instructors Only
All sessions are led by educators with a professional background in economics, financial planning, or adult education — not generalists or recent graduates.
No Financial Advice
A clear boundary is maintained between education and advice. Instructors help participants understand concepts — not tell them what to do with their money.
Currency Education for Adults Over 40 in Bangkok
Adults navigating the middle and later stages of life face a distinct set of currency-related questions. Whether the concern is the Baht's effect on pension income arriving from abroad, the cost of frequent travel between Thailand and home countries, or the long-term impact of exchange rate movements on retirement purchasing power, the underlying dynamics are genuinely complex and often misrepresented.
Anurak's approach places real-world situations at the centre of learning. Rather than beginning with textbook definitions and working outward, we start with the questions participants actually carry — and build the analytical tools needed to work through them clearly. Thai Baht exchange rate history, import pricing, foreign currency deposit accounts at Thai commercial banks, and international transfer mechanics are all covered in practical, contextualised terms.
Bangkok's status as a financial hub in Southeast Asia means that currency awareness is particularly relevant for both Thai residents and international residents managing cross-border finances. Anurak serves both groups with courses taught in English and structured for adults who bring substantial life experience to the table.
